Cape Cod

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to go on Andy's class retreat to Cape Cod.  If you are unfamiliar with how things work at HBS, each class is made up of 900 students and then they divide the students into ten groups of 90, which are called sections. Andy is in Section E and their theme was "Sec E and we know it!" haha I know what you are thinking, it fits us so well!  Anyway, on our way out of town we hit rush hour traffic and I got a little car sick (I don't do well with a lot of stopping and going)...but after the freeway cleared up, and a little stop at McDonald's to lose my lunch, we made it to the Cape just in time for the party to start!

The night started at a Party house that was rented by the section.  We gathered there, ate some pizza and talked to some other section-mates.  Oddly enough our friends who also moved here from Seattle (The Stocks) are also in our section and it was so nice having them there with us!   We are also two of the three families in the section that have children, so you can imagine what a spectacle our kids were as they pranced around the party house! I think most of the students loved it though, and it was nice being able to meet some of the people Andy associates with every day.

As much as it might surprise most of you, we took the kids back to the hotel before the real partying started.

This is a picture looking into the garage.  The house was literally packed!  We stayed at a little resort/hotel about a mile away, for our sake and for theirs!

The next morning we decided to take a walk around and see the town.  Unfortunately it was cloudy and drizzly, but I think we made the most of it!  (I will note that our kids slept until 8am that morning, which, if you know us, is practically unheard of! I was delightful!)

First was breakfast, we decided to hit up a local spot called The Gourmet Brunch.  The food was decent, but not a place I would rave about.  Clare enjoyed the food....but it doesn't take much to please her!

The place was filled mostly with older folks, so of course the kids were a hit.  Clare got called a 'he' a few times, which always amazes me, but we just nod and smile and appreciate the compliments.

Then we walked down to the boats and to the harbor.  The city is really cute and quaint.  I love the style of Cape Cod homes and the small town feel.

I can't even remember what Noah was crying about in this picture, but it took forever to calm him down.  We finally got a decent one...which you can see below...

This play boat was outside a little Maritime Museum.  The kids played on it for almost an hour, before we had to tear them away.  They loved it!

Reenacting Titanic, much better than the original if you ask me! :)

After our walk we stopped by a local gelato spot and enjoyed a cold treat.  We then headed home. We spent less than 24 hours in The Cape on this trip but look forward to going back and seeing more.  We actually head back in about a week!  Can't wait!

Love these pictures. You do so much as a family. I always get motivated when I look at your blog.
And who thinks Clare is a boy?!
Bizarre.
