We had a really great 4th of July. Both of Andy's brothers and their families came to visit for the long weekend and we had so much fun! The kids played so well together and we got some good family time in. Here's a little recap of some of the things we did...
Andy's brother Greg and his family drove in Tuesday late, and Corey and his family came Wednesday afternoon. You can imagine how excited the kids were to play with each other. On Wednesday night we set up all their chairs and put on Finding Nemo for them. They enjoyed popcorn and suckers with their movie and were in heaven!
After letting them stay up way too late they finally got to bed (My kids asked to go to bed, ha) and we were all excited for the 4th! The 4th of July has been one of my very favorite holidays since before I can remember. Our family has many family traditions for the 4th and it has always been an exciting holiday for me. We tried to make it just as fun for our kids!
Here is a little picture we took on our way to the Parade. We got out of the house later than we wanted so we didn't have great seats at the Parade and only ended up staying for part of it. By the time we got home it was lunch and nap time. We let the kids (and adults) rest a bit before we went to the splash park.

After the splash park, we came back home and had our BBQ. It just isn't the 4th unless you have a BBQ! After our BBW we got kids ready for bed and went outside (earlier than anyone else) and light the fireworks that Andy's brother had bought. It was perfect for the kids and we were done in time for bed, which the adults loved! It was perfect.
On Friday the 5th we went downtown to DC to look around and celebrate our sister-in-law's birthday! We only walked around for a little while before heading to Georgetown to eat at Serendipity's and grab some cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes.
There was a nice breeze that day, but the sun was SO hot. Unfortunately it made things a little miserable, but we still enjoyed ourselves.

After a late lunch/early dinner at Serendipity (and some dessert as well) we went over to Georgetown cupcake to indulge ourselves even more. The line was long and we waited probably about 30 min but I was surprised at how delicious the cupcakes were. Definitely a place I would revisit (and they have one in Boston as well)!
After two parking tickets, the drive home and getting kids in their PJs they had a good old fashioned wrestle with Andy. I am not sure what it is about boys and wrestling, but they love it!
On Saturday we went bowling and hit up Cafe Rio for dinner before Corey and his family headed back home. It really was the perfect weekend and we had so much fun!
