Pictures of the Week

Ahh friends, this is my 5th post today!  Hopefully you are enjoying my catching up!  Here, in no particular order, are our pictures from the week.  Cheers! 

Clare wooed the boys with her charm and convinced them to give her their toys and a helmet.  She is so sweet, I can't blame them for giving in! 

My handsome and sweet little Noah started preschool.  He loves it, and Clare and I enjoy our time together.  It's going to be a fun year for this little guy! 

Noah and Clare practically tackle Andy when he comes home...especially when it's been a long week and they haven't gotten to see him much.  They sure love him!

A very healthy dinner (as you can tell) at the HBS Grille, because Mom didn't feel like cooking and daddy was gone.  I love living on campus!

Went to a Harvard Rugby game, and had a good time!  Even if it was a little chilly!

Clare entertained herself for a while reading books (and making a mess), but I didn't mind because she was so quiet!

A friend sent us a bunch of clothes for Clare and these little boots were part of the package.  She LOVES them, and tries to put them on herself.  Funny girl. 

Nature Scavenger Hunt

Yesterday, as I was thinking of something to entertain my children, I remembered an idea I had thought of a few weeks back -  a nature scavenger hunt.  We decided that we would invite some of our friends to come along too and it turned into quite the gathering!  My intentions were good, and although Noah (and most of the other kids) got distracted from the scavenger hunt, they played great together and had a fun time.  I guess that's what matters the most, right?

Mt. Auburn Cemetery

It's kind of weird for me to think of taking my kids to the cemetery to look around.  I was excited to go with Crimson Kids though and had heard the view of Boston from the top of the tower was awesome!  I couldn't miss the chance.

When we got there most of our friends had been for a little while, so we didn't stay for too long.  I hope to go back and walk around a little more, maybe on a cool fall Sunday evening!  The cemetery is huge. They even sell maps, just so you can find your way around.  It's covered with thick trees and foliage (as you can see in the picture below) and has so much personality.

The view from the top of the tower definitely didn't disappoint and I am glad we made the short trip to see it!

The top of the tower made me a little nervous, but you can tell that the kids were completely comfortable.  We were only up there long enough to snap a few pictures and then head back down for some snacks!

We will definitely make a trip back so I can get some decent pictures of the cemetery itself.  It really was incredible!

Partner Case Night

Our time here in Boston has been jam packed.  If Andy isn't busy, then I am.  One of the unique opportunities I had was to attend a Parter Case night.  The major part of Andy's curriculum here at HBS is Case Studies.  They are given different cases to study and then they discuss them in class the following day.  Sometimes he has one case a day (which is rare) and other times its two or three cases a day (which is more frequent).  It is much more difficult and time consuming than I am making it sound.  Each case can take 2+ hours to get through and that isn't including doing financial calculations, answering questions etc.  Needless to say, Andy spends a lot of time studying!!  

Anyway, the partners club here on campus sets aside one night were partners are given a case to read and study and then attend a class with other HBS partners.  The case they gave us was very simple (they were being kind) and of course the classroom setting was much less stressful than what Andy usually experiences, but it was fun all the same!  

There were a group of us who all went together.  It was nice to get a glimpse of what Andy is doing all day, and makes me appreciate the work he is doing! 

Here is our little group!  These ladies are fantastic and we have enjoyed being able to spend time with them and their families.  We have made some wonderful friends here.   

Although I thought case night was a lot fun,  I can honestly say I'm glad it's Andy that's going to class every day and not me!  haha.  For now I will stick with wiping the butts and faces of my children.  

Boston Common and the Swan Boats

One of the great things about Harvard Business School is that they are so accommodating to families.  They have a club called Crimson Kids.  You pay the club dues and can sign your kids up for different classes (we are doing Music, Yoga and Sports).  They also take field trips every Friday, and it gives us a great opportunity to see Boston!  

A couple of weeks ago we went to Boston Common, had a picnic and rode on the Swan boats.  We actually went downtown a little early to hit up H&M (they are the only one close by with a kids section)!  After we got our goodies, we headed down to meet our friends at the park.  

Our lunch was very light, because I hadn't been grocery shopping and had no food in our house!   The kids still had fun though, and thankfully some of our friends brought bread to feed the ducks...

Noah was doing the potty dance the entire time we were at the park.  I kept insisting that we go potty but I think he probably thought he would miss out on something and he kept protesting.  After feeding the ducks we headed to the swan boats and while in line he frantically says that he needs to go potty.  I search around the nearby area and can't find the bathroom anywhere.  We were in a moment of desperation and so I reluctantly pulled Noah's pants down by a tree and let him do his business!  It's not my proudest moment as a mother, but you do what you got to do!  

The boat ride was short, but sweet.  The kids loved it and it was just long enough for the kids to get a good ride in.  Definitely a fun and inexpensive place to see while visiting Boston!
